Cordelia Records is currently inviting contributions to another surf instrumental covers compilation CD - a follow up to this year's "Beyond the Sea". You know how back in the 60's The Ventures would record instrumental versions of contemporary hits such as "I Feel Fine", "The House of the Rising Sun" etc? Well this CD is going to be something like that but up to date. (Comparatively). To be on this one you have to record a surf instrumental which is a cover version of a hit record that was recorded after 1990. (Scroll down for all the technical details about contributing.) |

Requirements: Contributions have to be...
Submission format: tracks can be submitted as any CD quality computer file or audio CD. A WAV file would be nice. You can post it or, even better, upload it - email for details of those. Your track doesn't necessarily have to be mastered. Deadline: As soon as 20 tracks have been submitted. Note: the deadline might turn out to be slightly flexible, but in the case of "Beyond the Sea" the total length of contribtutions reached the limit of what you can fit on a CD the same week as the stated deadline expired; and a few bands who were still working on tracks didn't make it onto the CD as a result. Also, priority might be given to tracks which aren't available anywhere else. Copyright matters: You retain the rights to your recording and you can do whatever the hell you like with it in addition to having it on this CD. Cordelia Records can release it on this CD but can't do anything else with it without your permission. What you get: as in the case of "Beyond the Sea" all the contributors will receive 7 free copies. (Contributors to our Zappa covers CD got 10 but the postage turned out to be hellishly expensive, most surf instrumental bands seem to live in on the other side of the Atlantic for some crazy reason.). It should be good. "Beyond the Sea" was pretty well received. Read the reviews here, here and here for example. We'll probably have some bonus mp3 downloads on the eventual permanent web-page - so you can record an additional tune for that purpose if you want to. I shall add details of which bands are doing what to this page as we go along. Alan Jenkins, senior project co-ordinator, European division. |
